DESCRIPTION:
This is a basic "hands-on" course in
the general maintenance and repair of the R22, R44 and
R66 helicopters.*
A thorough review and explanation of the
Maintenance Manuals is provided with emphasis on
routine maintenance and repair.
Courses are taught in English only.
Course is taught in English only.
Students not fluent in the English language
must provide their own interpreter with technical
helicopter knowledge.

for the RR300 engine installed in the R66 is provided
by Rolls-Royce;

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The course is only available
to licensed Airframe and Powerplant (A & P)
mechanics or engineers.
COURSE DURATION AND SCHEDULE: R22/R44:
Course
duration is 8 full days,
Monday through Friday, excluding Saturday and Sunday,
and continuing Monday through Wednesday.
(Note: The
last day of the course is a full day.)
R66:
Course duration is 1 day.
Some exceptions may be made to accommodate
holidays and special events (please refer to the
course schedule).
Instruction commences promptly at 8:00
a.m. and concludes at approximately 5:30 p.m. each
day. Students
should arrive at least ten minutes early each morning
to find a seat and get settled for the day's session.
CERTIFICATION: Since
all students are licensed technicians, a working
knowledge of aircraft hardware, piston engines (R22
& R44), turbine engines (R66), sheet-metal
construction techniques, weight & balance,
physics, and electronics is presumed.
Students are encouraged to review subject areas
they may be weak in prior to attending.
Students will be evaluated orally both during
morning lecture and afternoon shop sessions.
Afternoon shop sessions will also be used to
evaluate student’s practical ("hands-on")
performance. Written
exams will be given daily following the afternoon shop
session. Passing
grades are required on all exams; course attendance
alone does not guarantee passing. If in the opinion of
the course instructor, the student cannot currently
safely maintain, inspect, and approve for
return-to-service an R22 or R44 helicopter, the
student will not receive a certificate.
TUITION: $450.00
per person for the R22/R44 course, $250.00 per person
for the R66 course (previous R22/R44 course
completion is required prior to attending the R66
course). Tuition
is non-refundable if cancellation is not received at
least 2 weeks prior to the course date.
All cancellations must be received in writing.
A 10% processing fee will incur on
cancellations received
prior to 2 weeks of the course date.
If rescheduling within 2 weeks of the course
date, an additional 50% tuition is required.
No-shows
forfeit their tuition.
ENROLLMENT: A
completed enrollment form, a copy of the attendee's A
& P license (or equivalent) (both sides), a photo
I.D. copy, and tuition must be received by RHC prior
to confirmation of the course date.
Enrollment is limited to fifteen students per class, on a first-come, first-serve basis; therefore, registration and tuition
should be submitted as far in advance as possible to
ensure confirmation.
Course reservations are only valid for the
mechanic listed on the confirmation letter and are not
transferable.
Classes are subject to cancellation if
sufficient registration is not achieved two weeks
prior to commencement of each scheduled class. (IMPORTANT: Please do not
make travel arrangements prior to course confirmation.
If confirmation has not been received, please
contact us prior to making travel arrangements.
LOCATION: The course is conducted at Robinson
Helicopter Company's facility in Torrance, California.
SUPPLIES REQUIRED FOR THE COURSE: Each student
must have the following:
1.
Government-issued Mechanic's (or Engineer's
identification) license
and photographic identification
2. Calculator
3. Colored markers ("highlighters") for
tracing electrical schematics
4. Appropriate "shop" or "work"
clothing
5. Safety Glasses - loaners available at RHC
(full-coverage prescription
glasses are acceptable)
DO NOT
